“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” – Winnie The Pooh
Intuition is a strong thing and over a period of time I have learnt how to feel it and believe in it too. As soon as the alarm rang at 5am, I woke up and checked my phone for messages. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for as generally I don’t go online until ready for breakfast but I saw a message from the Airline that my flight was going to be delayed by 2 hours. I thought about the transfers at 7am and breaky at 6.30am as scheduled with the team. Instantly, I messaged Jyothis to reschedule the transfers for 8.30am instead and got up to get ready for breaky. It is always nice to be up and early, and watch the sun rise. After all packing was done, weighing scale was returned, I made my way to the breaky, idea was to eat breaky then write a note in the visitor’s book. I had so much to say, I started making notes on my phone. It was a blessing to see 4 pieces of Idlis and chutney at this time with hot tea (before the official break time). Soon after, my friend walked in to wish bye at a time earlier for him and I had to apologise as I was going to be around for another 2 hours instead of leaving then. He smiled and decided to then come back later. I felt short of time and page as had so many ‘Thank You’s’ to write sharing all the experiences I had.
Once in the room, I started playing with my phone after 21 days as I had decided to digitally detox as well. I posted something on instagram as a story and it felt so different. I still had time to meet everyone over their scheduled breakfast time and then leave for the airport. I thought of asking Jyothis to style my hair for a change, I would call it my ‘travel hair’. She was happy to do that and we sat in the next room styling my hair. I saw the snacks they gave and wow it was a lot, so I suggested to put nuts in a box and biscuits were meant to eat during the drive. Before leaving, we did one final prayer and they gave me a postcard. Next to the car all 3 came to say bye, it was sweet and I told them they could keep the Rubik’s cube and learn how to solve it and pass it on. They were waving with both hands and full smiles until the left their sight.
Once out, my main concern was the drive and car sickness so I stayed away from my phone and focused on the views. After almost 2 hours we reached and I could see traffic inside the airport was less. Once all checked in, I waited and no surprise, flight was delayed by another 45 minutes. I had to keep informing my team to organise the transfers once I reached the Island in Maldives and it seemed now it would be by 9pm or so.
I had enough time in the day to review the happenings of 21 amazing days and life in general. It has been great in every possible way, in spite of the cleansing sessions, painful abdomen, sleepy days, disturbed sleeps in the night and so on. What I want to take from this is the way Ayurveda taught me once again to believe in the system and concept, respect my body to in turn give me the benefits of a healthy life. Instead of fighting with it or challenging it, how to be friends with it as it is the only being I have to be with no matter what comes in the future. What I also learnt is how one can be friends with strangers if only we start a conversation with a smile and find what’s common. I made some good friends for sure, Jyothis is now on my what’s app and so is my neighbour who kept a check until my flight took off. Life is a great journey and each day my aim remains to make the most and live from inside. This already started today with saying no to so many things like filter coffee, masala chai, snacks in the aircraft and candies in another flight, without feeling guilty. And this will continue with healthy breaky tomorrow as I will miss the place, but remember them with Ragi oats or Dosa with honey and maybe steam a banana too 🙂
This 21 days of Panchakarma journey might have ended but my journey has just started towards implementing all that I learnt.
Before I conclude, I would like to share the details of the place for anyone interested: Madukkakuzhy Ayurveda – https://www.ayurveda-kerala.org/
