Yes indeed, this title comes with great pride as after few unsuccessful attempts to make pancakes, I finally got it right.
So, I bought buckwheat flour (healthy of course!) along with grated coconut today and decided to give home-made healthy pancakes another shot. After mixing all the ingredients in the NutriBullet (did I say am a big fan of it?) including an avocado, one egg, Greek yoghurt & almond milk, when the mixture came out thick I wasn’t sure what to expect. But once on the non-stick pan, I was super impressed with what took shape. It was the pleasure of getting it right, it was a smile of achievement and success (I know I have expressed this already) and it was a feeling of ‘finally yes!’
I am sure you have had this feeling too, either at work or in your personal life or even in the kitchen like me, where you felt ‘I want to make this happen’ and it does finally happen, as if someone heard us at that very moment. I have recently had this feeling with quiet a few things during my course, while catching a bus or even shopping for groceries. That feeling of satisfaction and contentment takes us to this happy place where we feel we have reached the everest, what I call our ‘everest of the moment’.
I took another step towards my passion in fitness with the conclusion of Advanced Nutrition in Weight Management course yesterday. What I learnt from this intense one-day course was – how the food that we eat affects our system, what hormones are released and what is REM sleep (a subject that always intrigued me). I also got some great leads to new studies and sources that will assist me in Nutrition planning for our clients (future clients). The subject is so vast and so in-depth that everything we put into our mouth, goes through a process and that is not only limited to digestion but also includes how much we can digest & what is good for our digestion.
Have you ever questioned the food we eat? I know I have gone out of the subject in discussion but I feel it is important for us to know, as even though we say we know; the real question is … Do we really know? When I was making these pancakes, the main question I asked is what can I include in the ingredients to keep it healthy and soon all the right ingredients were out – Greek yoghurt, avocado, egg and Buckwheat flour. Soon enough I realized, I didn’t even need oil to cook them and in no time, I had a pile of 4 pancakes ready with no oil, decorated with grated coconut, strawberries, a bit of honey, few pumpkin seeds and cinnamon powder. I was never a good cook or let me say, I had no reason to cook as with the hectic social life, eating out came naturally.
Even though people who know me will say I ate healthy, I know that my food was not exactly 100% healthy. Fast forward to today, where I work out and am pushing my muscles to take shape, I try to put as much as healthy food as I can in my system, so I can feed my friend (myself) well. And once I feed it well, it will give me good results too, for all the hard work I do in the gym or the abs that I keep crunching at home. Makes sense? What can I say, plan plan until you succeed (whatever the plan, you will succeed!).
