The famous tagline of all times, from book titles to motivational quotes; says it all.

After a hectic exam day yesterday with our brains all over the paper, our sleepless nights are finally over as it was the last paper in theory. With this, tomorrow is our last day in this course with practical sessions in the gym where I play two roles – as a Personal Trainer instructor and one as the client, with my partner. Did I mention, it is a high intensity workout where for 45 minutes or so, we would be lifting heavy weights following 4 training systems? Some new words here, especially being a runner but now I understand even better why we sweat in the gym, lift all those weights and how we can improve our form & build strength to run better. When the papers finished by 10-30 am, I felt like someone had just lifted the 50 kgs I was holding on my shoulder for the last few weeks, virtually speaking and I felt lighter again. Just when I was thinking, what’s next; when someone said – “right, am going for a run in the nearby park”, obviously you join to run.

Considering the last few weeks and the pressure of studies, running has always been my exhale with some short distances around however I miss my crazy runs with my crazy buddies in Dubai at crazy hours. When we started to run with headphones and pumping tunes, I could breathe the fresh air, looking around me while running my way up and down the hills, I could think again. After we completed 4 kms, we made our way back to the institute for lunch & the second half of the day, where I was the client which meant more runs on the treadmill with LSD & interval training as well as weights. There was a time when I couldn’t run on the treadmill for more than 2 minutes as I found it boring running on the same spot, staring at the same view but now things have changed and I have started to enjoy my runs on treadmill too. As soon as it hit high speed with interval trainings, I was tempted to go faster as we were working with the 1:2 ratio (run for one minute in high speed and active rest for 2 minutes with average speed jogs).

I do miss running and can’t wait to get back on it now that my course is concluded however this journey is not over yet as I signed up for two more courses which will add to my qualification in fitness giving me more time to educate and train myself and those around me. During this time, I will increase my distances to run outdoors as well, as I have to focus on my next marathon in November at Athens, the origin of marathons.

Yup, that’s right, once a runner always a runner 🙂
