Finally the theory is over and yesterday we sealed the deal with our practicals too, so now officially we are PREMIER QUALIFIED PERSONAL TRAINERS (yippee!!).
It is such a great feeling I cannot express, these last 6 weeks has been an awesome journey into our heart, respiratory system, circulatory system, training systems, cardiovascular exercises and stretching (let’s make this more interesting – dynamic, static and development stretches). In short, I am glad I took the leap to do this fitness course when I did and I am glad I made it to the end of this journey, even though it feels like the start of a beautiful journey that will soon unfold.
When I came to London two months ago, leaving my built empire in Dubai in the last 10 years; I wasn’t sure what to expect and how to feel as it was all so new and overwhelming. And now, with this in-depth knowledge that I have gained in theory of understanding our body better and practicals of building those muscles and how to challenge our body, I feel ready to take over the world (in my words!). Am currently exploring some opportunities in fitness to take over a role that would develop my base in health & fitness and build the much needed experience but before that, let me tell you more about this journey.
We meet people every day of our lives, we spend so much time doing things together and one day we move on leaving all of that behind; to the next milestone of our lives. This is true for this course as it is for our jobs and recreational activities like running, circuit training or even gym sessions. We all have a group or that close circle of friend (s) who we like to see when we do and chat during lunch hours as well as over what’s app (thanks to the technology) in the day, sometimes late in the evenings even after spending hours together, once back home. This is friendship, this is a relation and I hope it is here to stay. I too met some amazing people in this course, who taught me more about themselves, their culture, their lifestyle and about me, they gave me the faith to be myself and believe in my dreams. All of us in that classroom had one common goal – To be a certified Personal Trainer, all of us came from different spheres of life with one passion in heart – To be the best in what we do and who we become. With this aim, we went through this amazing 6-week journey, laughing with each other over jokes that were then funny, consoling each other giving the much needed confidence before every test, chatting over what’s app saying ‘it will all be fine’, quizzing our knowledge a night before each test and giving big hugs in park during emotional moments. There was a quote I read as a child and still recall it as it was worth – “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift that’s why they call it THE PRESENT”. I lived these 6 weeks too, under the pressure of getting the education right and making sure the practicals in the gym as a to-be trainer were equally strong with my buddy. More importantly, I lived with the fact that I knew every morning when I reach the institute, who will come next after me and after that and after that, till we started our day. I knew that when I went into the classroom for a theory paper exam, I have a group that is with me, as we are all in this together and when I walk out, I will be greeted with people around asking how it went. I knew that when we went to the gym for the practicals, my buddy and partner in crime is as confident as I am, to get this right in our play roles of being a trainer & trainee. I knew that after 6 weeks, we must walk out with this qualification and achievement that brought us together and out of our comfort zones, as we have been bold enough to pause our lives and say ‘let’s do this’.
With a heavy heart, I will soon be saying adios to this amazing group of people and friends I made, but do hope to stay in touch with the same passion that brought us together in the first place. Soon our paths will meet again and we shall go on that road trip that has been the topic of discussion in the evenings from the moment it hit us that in less than no time, we will be taking separate routes into the future.
Wherever we go, whatever we do; here’s wishing everyone the very best. We wouldn’t have wanted this any other way, for now it is all fit and fine (I can so visualise one of our friends singing this as a song!).
