“The purpose of our lives is to be happy” – Dalai Lama
Last night was nothing less of trouble as I slept around 9.30pm but slept slept by midnight, then again woke up at 3am and finally up by 5.30am. So many thoughts in my head that my mind couldn’t rest even though the body was tired. Hoping yoga will help, which it did even though it rained heavily and all I could heard was crows under the shelter. Mosquitos were up as well as I noticed some few ready for their breaky, my blood. Today I would have some new treatments, one was to have Shirodhara focused on both knees in the afternoon while continuing the morning one and the other was for cleansing Ayurveda way with ghee, milk and honey. They have more uses than I could imagine 🙂
Even though I thought I was eating light but the puttu and curry filled me up so much that I landed up with a stomach ache, only my fault for indulging. After the pain didn’t subside, during my consultation the doctor suggested a medicine that would help and it did just before my treatment. I got clarity on my understanding of the use of pepper and turmeric use together, it seems is not mandatory to have them combined for maximum benefits as I believed and more importantly for my body type, I needed to go easy on pepper. Point noted!
Treatment was good and I believe the cleansing too as I didn’t leave the washroom for some good time, as anticipated. Lunch wasn’t a skip so I made my way to what little I could eat as my stomach wasn’t happy or settled yet. I was told not to sleep in the day so had to keep myself busy with crosswords and more of Rubik’s cube, challenging my latest learning. Afternoon session was interesting. Once preparation was done, it is all about pouring hot oil on the knees, I liked it and once time passed, it was well bandaged to keep it warm. Today for tea time at 4pm, they had mangoes on the table and just today I couldn’t indulge so requested permission to eat 1.5 bites of it, with white pepper for better digestion and it was granted 🙂
Soon after they announced that we would be going on a so called boat, basically a plank with a pulley to cross the lake, to see the other side and their extended centre. It was my day out as I hadn’t stepped out in days and what an experience indeed crossing this 11kms man-made lake with a rope tied on both ends. The other side showed a new view and even prettier than what we saw. After a bit of show around we took the same mode of transportation back. How I wish I could walk around and explore more, maybe next year.
Once back, I started the puzzle book as the cube was getting too easy, and started highlighting the words. One page was all about “without purpose” and I struggled to find the words to highlight. At dinner time they announced about a session post dinner on the topic of Kerala, to be presented by our very own lady Jyothis. By then cube was entertaining, more so for others to spoil than for me to fix, we all found a way to be amused. The presentation was interesting, loads of factors to learn and discover, population, the dance, the art skill and of course their main festival – Onam. Kerala like any other city in India is so cultural and I love the passion residents have in describing and sharing the same.
