It’s been almost two weeks since I arrived in Dubai and explored various job opportunities in the fitness industry. It has been an interesting journey so far as I got to meet the fitness experts, leaders, hear about their journeys so far, what the market expectation is and where I can blend and prospects to shine. What to say of a path that is waiting to be explored, first step that is on hold and curtains yet to be unfold.
Each meeting opened new avenues as to what’s out in this fitness universe, from support to run an independent business to specialised PT role in esteemed companies. Where do I see myself in 2-5 years? The most commonly asked question, even when I was in hotels to now when I am at the threshold of this new field. Besides the fact that I would like to see people around me fit (or fitter), healthy (or healthier) and with no disease (no more) I would say; being even more confident that all of this is possible with the right education, commitment, dedication and discipline while living the hectic life and social lifestyle by making the right choices. It is possible to add healthier years to someone’s life, it is possible to be where you want to be, by taking the first step towards it.
So it is really about the first step isn’t It? Towards something new, towards something bold, towards something that would change your life like never before. No ‘ifs’ and no ‘buts’, only ‘yes we can’ attitude.
Sitting in one of the newest and now my favorite restaurants in downtown, I watch people eat breakfast, they are all here either on business or vacation or are residents walking in just to enjoy the scrumptious breakfast on offer. They all seem to have an agenda – what to do next, where to go, who to meet and what else? Sounds familiar, isn’t it? It doesn’t matter where we are, what we do or where we go, we all want to be somewhere, do something and be able to feel that it’s right.
While I have been there rushing through life and deadlines, it feels good sitting on the other side taking a break mentally and physically, from the rush of life, sipping on my coffee and thinking what shall I do today. This is rare believe me, but is so worth as I feel I can enjoy the small moments again like my coffee and that bite of omelette. I used to love observing people and it has been a while since I took the time to look around me, respect the space we are in, the people around us, all who are telling a story. A story of how they perceive life, how they foresee the day and where they come from, their experiences. It’s all out there, if you watch their expressions (not haunt them), body language and style that defines them. One of the biggest challenges I have overcome in the past few months is being on my own, something that years ago was not feasible as I was not used to and didn’t have the time to pause this speedy life. But today, I enjoy ‘my’ time, to hear my thoughts, live in the moment and be able to focus on my breathing, all these matters now matter to me. Soon, I shall too get into the race, however this time the race is mine, the challenges will be mine and the win like each moment of life, will be worth celebrating!
